We started The Healing Rose because we believed self-care shouldn't require a chemistry degree to understand what's actually in the bottle. Ten years later, it's become so much more than that.
In 2016 we had an idea, a customer list of roughly zero, and a lot of helping hands. For the first two years there were no employees, just friends and family filling in whenever we needed them, everything being made in our kitchen for the first 6 months. When we finally got our first place in Andover, we slept there for three months straight, working until 4am and getting woken up at 9am by the UPS driver at the door. Nothing here was built fast.
Ten years later we are still making it ourselves, in small batches, from raw ingredients to finished product at our seaside facility in Newburyport. Small batch for us means a person is always watching. Someone weighs it, someone pours it, someone checks it, and if something looks off it does not go out. These are the things that get lost at scale, which is exactly why we have not gone that way.
We spent years finding the right materials: certified organic essential oils, carrier oils, butters, waxes, and herbs, chosen because they were the best available and not because they were easiest to get. We were the first certified organic CBD brand in Massachusetts, and our products are now on shelves in shops and dispensaries across the country.
We are woman-led and family-owned, and honestly, it shapes almost everything about how this place runs. We lead with understanding instead of policy, because that is how we would want to be treated ourselves. When something goes wrong, the first question is never what our rules allow, it is what that person actually needs right now.
That same instinct is why giving back has never felt optional to us. We've donated more than 1,000 products to local veterans' organizations and given over $10,000 to groups including Susan G. Komen, The Trevor Project, and others. Laura has also spent more than 250 hours at the state and federal level pushing for hemp and cannabis regulation that protects small producers instead of squeezing them out, work that rarely gets noticed but matters enormously to the people it protects.
Being a voice for women in this industry has connected us to people who care about the exact same things we do. Watching someone finally figure out their own self-care, on their own terms, is the part that keeps us showing up every day.

Our production team follows strict standard operating procedures that have been refined through years of experience, as well as following GMP standards. Our products are infused with Hemp-derived Cannabinoids that are 3rd party tested for pesticides, residual solvents, heavy metals, microbiological contaminants, and other harmful elements.
Rose is our family dog. In 2013 we found out where she was headed next: a small, timid puppy, born to a backyard breeder who planned to hand her off to dog fighters.
We got in the car that day and drove straight there.
Thirteen years later, she is still with us. Still doing the thing we named the company after.
